Orthopedics is nothing but medical doctors or Physiotherapist mainly focus on the skeleton and muscles and also includes arm, leg, neck, and bone and tissue ailments. They must work and instruct patients in caring for their injuries understand and adjust traction equipment. They treat patients of all ages suffering from a wide variety of ailments, from broken arms to artificial hips and etc. They practice is normally non-surgical method.
Education & Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree (4 years) program in pre-medical studies, biology ,orthopedic specialization and related fields
- Residency training, working with surgeons in hospitals and other facilities.
- Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree and 4-5 year residency in a hospital in further studies
Training & Certification:
- State medical license and board certification in orthopedic surgery.
- NBCOT & NAOT provides the certification of orthopedic technologists.
- Proof of the necessary education and training, and passing an exam, are the usual requirements announced by State Medical License Board.
Responsibilities:
- Orthopedic surgeons diagnose and assess patients’ injuries or diseases through testing, such as X-rays to look for broken bones or blood tests to check for rheumatoid arthritis.
- The surgeon may cast and splint limbs, recommend rehabilitative exercises, or prescribe supplements and medications to strengthen joints or minimize pain
- Regular follow up with the patients and good record maintenance.
- working with patients closely and instructing them in caring for their injuries
- By giving confident and physical activity advice to elderly ages to recover from illness
Skillset & Requirements:
They must have strong knowledge of current medical technologies, anatomy, physiology and medical terminology. Interacting and good people skills for working with patients and instructing them in caring for their injuries in noninvasive procedures like prescribing drugs and nutritional supplements; recommending therapeutic exercises; and immobilizing fractured bones with the use of braces, splints, and casts.
Job Offer & Career Outlook:
Most orthopedics work in hospitals or outpatient surgical centers. There are also solo practitioners, group practices, and others in multi-specialty group practices. There are more jobs in low-income and rural areas, and an aging population is increasing demand for orthopedic surgery. Salary range will be 3.5 lakhs -6 lakhs per annum based on experience and hospital groups.
